Chapter 12: Dykes Family
Frank Dykes and Belle Lambert's Family
Frank and Belle had eight children: Omer Bartholomew (1899), John Arlie (1902), William Edgar (1907), William Walker (1900), Cora Emiline, Leora, Roxie Mae (1909), William Earmel. There were also three other children, Buford and twins, Pearl and Earl, that all died in infancy. Belle died on May 8, 1953 (or 1954). She is buried at the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama. Frank died on June 13, 1959 and is bured in the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery with Belle.
Omer Dykes, Frank and Belle's oldest child, was born on July 24 (or July 27), 1899. On March 8, 1917 in Brilliant, Alabama, Omer married Nola Ethel Erwin, born April 24, 1901 in Alabama. They had 12 children. Omer died on September 14, 1978 in Haleyville, Alabama and is buried at the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama. Nola ded on July 28, 1981 and is buried with Omer.
Arlie Dykes was born on May 5, 1902. He married Toy Erwin and they had six children. Arlie died on April 24, 1969 and he is buried at the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama.
Edgar Dykes was born on April 6, 1907. He married Margie Pratt, born August 28, 1910. They had 9 children. Edgar died on November 13, 1988 in Alabama and he is buried at the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama. Margie died March 18, 2000 and is buried next to Edgar.
Walker Dykes was born on September 13, 1900. He died on May 11, 1972 and is buried in Brock Church of Christ Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama.
Cora Dykes was born on January 31, though I don't know the year. Cora married Andrew Brock and they had 11 children (infant, Lillie Beatrice, Bea Alice, Violet Marie, Clara Mae, Tina Virginia, Mary Maude, Jessie Ruth, Norma Jean, Beverly Delorise, an unnamed male) and Andrew died in November 1975.
I don't know any details about Leora yet.
Ermel Dykes died in California and is buried there.
Roxie Mae Dykes was my great grandmother. She was born on November 6, 1909 in Alabama. She married Lee Roy Pennington and their story continues in the next chapter.
